Michel Papon and his son Leon developed the petrification business.

Indeed together they started selling their products on the French Riviera in Monte-Carlo’s Cave and on other cave sites like Grotte Saint-André or Grotte du Saut-du-Loup. In the 1920ies Leon Papon provided new customers : Grottes de Bétharram (Pyrénées), Caves Gouttières de Savonnières (Loire Valley), Gouffre de Padirac (Dordogne). In 1922 he benefited from the developing thermal industry and opened his fabric to visitors taking the waters in Saint-Nectaire. He was a precursor to the concept of business tourism.
