The Troubadours were lyrical poets of the Middle Ages who enchanted hearts with their songs in the langue d’Oc, a Romance dialect from the South of France.
In this low-relief, on the right, a group of three musicians plays the bagpipe, hurdy-gurdy, and horn. Their instruments are depicted with remarkable precision, evoking the enchanting melodies that resonated in the courts of the time. They perform a concert for the pleasure of nobles, leaning against the terrace of their residence on the left side of the scene. The meticulous details of clothing and ornaments add a touch of realism, transporting the viewer to an era where poetry and music were the jewels of courtesy. It is a piece that transcends time, recalling the timeless magic of music and poetry, celebrated in the form of a limestone artwork created through an exceptional ancestral technique.
