That low-relief was inspired by one of French painter Louis Leopold Robert’s pictures.
In 1831 his triumphant success at the artists’ Salon de Paris earned him the Legion of Honour’s red ribbon from French King Louis-Philippe. The original painting is now shown at the Musée du Louvre.
