Representation of the first central rail rack railway on Puy-de-Dôme built in 1907. It connected Place Lamartine in Clermont-Ferrand to an artificial platform near the summit at 1414 meters altitude until 1926. Many aristocrats used it, curious to discover the remains of the Temple of Mercury.
In 2012, a new train was established connecting the base of Puy-de-Dôme to the summit of the volcano.
